Note: the consensus is that we need to address both together
Note2: we also want that to be a KDE discussion, more than a
Kubuntu-specific one

Topics for discussion:
 * How to have Gnome & KDE applications share a common notification
protocol (work on the FD.o list)?
 * How to provide a compatible/alternative notification mechanism for KDE?
 * How to change/improve/patch applications using notifications to be
compatible with the existing/future notification service, including
notify-osd (either on Gnome or KDE btw)?
* Which KDE sub-projects should we interact with for notifications &
messaging (kdebase, kdepim, others in particular?)
