Theming GTK for Touch

Registered by Duncan McGreggor

Having a touch-usable GTK theme is going to be quite necessary (Mathieu Virbel).
    http://www.lukew.com/ff/entry.asp?1071 (Mathieu Virbel).

Note that a touch target can be larger that it's visual representation. The important thing is not to make the visual elements themselves large, but to create a design that leaves adequate spacing for the invisible touch target to extend outwards and meet the minimum target size requirements (John Lea).

Regarding button size issues in finger-based UI design, see the following (John Lea):

We should have a plan for touch-friendly interface design in the absence of GTK theming, as a stop-gap measure (Mathieu Virbel).
