integrate afpfs-ng into gnome vfs

Registered by Freyr Gunnar Ólafsson

http://alexthepuffin.googlepages.com/home is the home for afpfs-ng. This is a afp (apple file protocol) linux client. It would be great to be able to just open nautilus and type afp://user@someappleserver or to go the places menu, click "connect to server" and select afp from the following drop down menu. This will help Ubuntu fit in with a mac heavy environment and perhaps even replace some of the osx in the macs.

Whiteboard

There is currently no afpfs-ng package in ubuntu. I have to check if it's in debian. The first step would be to get this very useful program into apt.
Debian does not have this. I checked http://packages.debian.org

afpfs-ng version 0.8 was release on Feburary 19, 2008, for which there is a debian package available for download. It now includes a command line version and improved protocol implementations.

In terms of integration into gnome, it make sense to wait for gvfs to stabilize before integrating it, instead of writing a gnome-vfs method. KDE interfaces will likely be added.
