Allow detecting and fixing whitespace discrepancies

We have leading and trailing whitespace handling which causes problems for translating command line programs (introduced as part of #1036 fix). We are going to remove that (#30358), so we should allow easy detection of such whitespace discrepancies and quick fixing.
