Manage and Compare "Takes"

Registered by Danielle Foré

When I'm shooting photos, I always get multiple takes. Then I have to sit down and compare them to find my favorite take before editing and publishing. We should be thinking about a workflow and a UI that incorporates takes.

One idea I had was something like how you see multiple takes in Garageband. We would group nearly identical photos together, displaying our best guess as the "top" of the stack. Then we have a little badge on the photo denoting the number of takes. Clicking the badge gives you a dropdown where you can select which take you'd like to use (I guess these can be time stamps or maybe we just called them "Take 1" "Take 2" etc.). In the dropdown we also supply a menu item "Delete Unused Takes".

The thinking here is that whether our intention is to share photos or simply to reminisce, nearly identical photos aren't particularly desirable. The larger the photo library is, the less meaningful each piece is and the harder it is to find what we want.

Maybe batch processing could accelerate the photo workflow.
