Using QEMU for demonstrations

Registered by Michael Hope

We want the Linaro outputs to work well together, including being able to demonstrate things like kernel improvements and OpenGL under QEMU. Discuss potential uses of QEMU, the current state of play, and what needs to be done to get there.

Whiteboard

The TSC have asked for:
https://blueprints.launchpad.net/linaro/+spec/tr-toolchain-integration "Add complementry support for the other toolchain outputs such that most features can be demonstrated or trialed under emulation"
...so to some extent the question here is "what exactly do we mean by that?"

Some initial draft agenda items:

What exactly do we want to demo, who to, and why?
Which boards should we target?
Do we want to support OpenGL? What's the current status of this in qemu?
Audio -- quality, testing, etc
Packaging status
Working with the rest of Linaro (eg having new kernels tested under qemu)
