There is a patch for this issue, but it has been held up upstream due to the kernel.org compromise. I have just now sent the patch directly to the <email address hidden> mailing list. Hopefully the fix will be included in the next kernel upload.

As of September 13, this works fine, probably due to a newer kernel?

Hi Alexander,

Thanks for following up. The patch was released in the linux 3.0.0-11.18 yesterday, so it sounds like everything is good!

As of 12 Oct. 2011 this bug still exists. Hopefully the new kernel patch will show up by release day. I just did a 11.04 to 11.10 upgrade & the magic trackpad is non functional. I get a dialog asking for a serial number for the trackpad.

Hi Martin,

That would be a different issue than the one this bug is for. You have a potential bug with the bluetooth stack when trying to pair the device. Please open a new bug for your issue.

Thanks!

I have two oneiric machines (32-bit dell d620 and 64-bit lenovo w500) and this works on one of them - the dell d620 with a belkin bluetooth dongle..... For the lenovo I'm unable to get mouse working.. bluetooth pairing seems to register the device...
